The AEO Visibility Index™ measures how likely a webpage is to be surfaced or cited by AI answer engines such as ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, and Perplexity.
Unlike traditional SEO metrics that focus on ranking positions, the AEO Visibility Index™ evaluates whether content can be clearly interpreted, extracted, and referenced by AI systems when generating answers.
The index analyzes structural, semantic, and authority signals that influence how AI models interpret web content.
Each scanned page is analyzed across several visibility categories. These signals reflect the characteristics that AI systems rely on when selecting sources for generated answers.
Scores are calculated based on the strength of these signals and combined into a single index score indicating the probability that the page will be cited or surfaced within AI-generated responses.
